Large Google map of Edinburgh High St. |
Edinburgh is our most extensively surveyed major city yet. Starting from Edinburgh Castle, we go down The Royal Mile covering Castle Hill, Lawnmarket and, of course, the High Street. Next we move along Princes Street, including Princes Mall, and down through Shandwick Place. We also list the many small pubs and shops along the pedestrianised Rose Street and finally the parallel George Street with its prestigious jewellers, clothes shops and offices. In September 2005 Observer readers voted Edinburgh their favourite UK city for the sixth year running. In October, Edinburgh's famous, year-round series of festivals, stunning skyline, amazing architecture and ambience, proved more attractive than other cities, such as York and London, to take top position in the Telegraph Travel Awards. Rosslyn Chapel, made famous by Dan Brown's book, The Da Vinci Code, is a few miles South of Edinburgh centre in Roslin village on the A703 road to Penicuik and Peebles. A draw for many are the variety and quality of the many Edinburgh Festivals. These include book and film festivals as well as the well known Edinburgh Fringe, Edinburgh Tattoo and Edinburgh's Hogmany party. Edinburgh's Hogmany is a four day celebration of the New Year and visitors can enjoy 4 days of fabulous events, including the Torchlight Procession and the world famous Royal Bank Street Party.
Edinburgh Zoo, Our Dynamic Earth, Holyrood and Edinburgh Castle are just four of the major attractions but there is so much more to see and do in Edinburgh. We recommend visiting the official Edinburgh Tourism site and Explore Edinburgh for more ideas and links to the many attractions that make Edinburgh the place to visit. We took a number of pictures around Edinburgh and thought you might like to see them. If you own a shop or businesses in Edinburgh that we have not listed then please contact us so that we can incorporate your business into our listings. Looking for accommodation?
